Precision Components

The ability of the Keronite system to deliver extremely consistent results in very thin surface layers has opened a range of market opportunities where components require this degree of accuracy and control in the application of their surface treatment.

High Performance Audio

The comparative stiffness of aluminium and magnesium makes them ideal materials for use in high frequency speaker domes and cones.  Keronite has enabled the use of Al and Mg foils, while adding very little to the mass of the dome or cone.

Heat Exchangers

As the power needs of circuits in consumer electronics and high brightness lighting applications increase so does the need for cooling.  Keronite is in production in a number of 'conventional' heat exchange applications where both its standard and black treatments offer corrosion and wear protection that enables the use of aluminium in applications where previously steel was used.

Increasingly there is a need to place heat exchangers very close to the electronics and power circuits and this then means that metal heat exchangers need dielectric protection.  Traditionally this has been provided by plastic insulators, which not only provide electrical insulation, they also create a thermal barrier that reduces the effectiveness of the heat exchanger.  Keronite has developed a specific variant of the core technology that can offer good dielectric strength while offering little thermal barrier effect.

Tools & Moulds

Keronite originally engaged with this sector to develop wear surfaces for highly abrasive materials such as glass filled polymers.  In developing these applications the wider potential for the use of Keronite treated aluminium moulds was identified.

Aluminium tools are substantially cheaper to manufacture than their steel counter parts and they are easier to recycle at the end of their service life.  Treated with Keronite the aluminium tools can also last up to 5 times longer than the original tools.  An added benefit is that aluminium tools can run around 10% faster than steel tools because of the improved thermal cycling characteristics of the base material.

The Keronite treated surfaces are also able to retain beneficial amounts of release agents reducing the amounts of these chemicals that need to be used.
