TITLE: Application Engineer
LOCATION: Keronite H.Q. – Haverhill, Suffolk, UK
Keronite is seeking to fill the role of Application Engineer. This key role is to sit between our Operations and Customer Services teams. We believe that this role will allow Keronite to grow faster and more focussed since as a technology service provider our focus is on successful applications and customers. The role has two important elements: new application development and sales support.
The role of new application development is driven by the demand of our growing customer base. We must be able to provide better support and guidance in order to be more integrated into their business so we can play a role in their strategy development. This means that the successful candidate will work closely with the Technical and Operations teams in ensuring that Keronite develops “killer applications”. This will involve designing test programs and production requirements, with the aim of identifying Keronite-based coatings that will meet a customer’s particular requirements for a given application. We believe strongly that Keronite will be a material solution among others that makes up the end customer’s requirement and we must be able to advise and support them in this strategy.
The second part of the role is to support the Customer Services team in both direct and indirect interaction with our global customer base. This requires fast response to technical questions and fast development of applications to meet their issues and requirements. This could range from assisting in initial qualification of an opportunity to the development of customer-driven R&D programs or direction of coating developments that will enable us to deliver added value to our customers. This role involves daily interaction with the Customer Services team, including assistance in the quotation process e.g. costing.
Both aspects of the role will involve international and UK travel, customer presentations and speaking engagements at international conferences. This is critical role and, as a minimum, candidates will be well qualified graduates in engineering, material science or other physical science. In addition, the ability to express complex technical issues in clear and concise written or verbal form is essential. Preferably, the candidate will have experience inengineered coatings and surface technologies, failure investigations, corrosion and tribology of coatings/materials, electrolytic coating processes such as anodising, PEO, MAO.
