Plasma electrolytic oxidation technology

The Keronite system is based on the technology of Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation (PEO).   The early development of PEO was largely driven by the space programs of the 1960's, and by other aerospace applications where it was primarily used to provide durability to lightweight parts.  The early versions of the technology were effective, and are still used throughout the world to this day, but are relatively crude compared to subsequent developments.  Since acquiring the rights to the leading variants of the technology in the late 1990's, Keronite has worked continuously to develop and improve the control and capability of the system, to suit an ever increasing range of proven applications.

As well as our significant internal research and development activity, we have an ongoing relationship with the University of Cambridge and several other research institutes which gives us unrivalled insight into the fundamental science behind the technology.  This, along with the needs of our customers, has helped to inform our development so that the Keronite system is now the most capable surface treatment technology of its kind.

The keys to the success of the Keronite system are the level of process control (down to the parameters of individual plasma discharges), the unique proprietary formulations of our wide range of electrolytes, the process engineering (such as the power supply and production jigging), but above all, the expertise in application engineering which allows us to design the very best solution for any given application.
