Progressing after the pandemic: 2020 in review

11th January 2021 – Cambridge, UK – Keronite, the world leader in plasma electrolytic oxide coatings (PEO), can today announce the company posted financial results 10% ahead of budget in 2020. This comes following a year in which the industry was heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and consequent global manufacturing slowdown.

Keronite’s customer portfolio includes a number of blue chip companies, operating within a diverse set of industries – ranging from aerospace and defense, to semiconductor and sports equipment, for customers all over the world. This put the company in a uniquely advantageous position during this period of uncertainty.

Keronite CEO, Matt Hamblin, puts the strong set of results down to robust management and the exemplary response by the team to extraordinary circumstances. He comments:

“We’re collectively very proud of this impressive set of results, especially given the global situation. Our team has demonstrated their agility and we have, therefore, adapted very quickly to working from home. It’s a clear, positive sign that we’re ready to make the most of the many new, exciting opportunities coming our way.” – Keronite CEO, Matt Hamblin

The company serves customers by developing bespoke-to-application coatings, specialising in both gold-standard solutions and those which can be transformed into highly commercial, industrialised offerings for volume manufacturers. The company deploys coatings at its global facilities on behalf of customers, as well as offering factory-gate solutions.

The company has benefitted additionally from an acceleration in some trends, which have resulted from the pandemic. For example, the semiconductor shortage globally instigated an industry-wide rethink, with manufacturers seeking to ensure supply. Keronite’s coatings protect against plasma gas erosion.

Looking ahead to 2021, CEO Matt Hamblin says:

“We’re expecting to build on the positive outcome of 2020, with a minimum of 15% growth. We anticipate that this will come from new market sectors and the continued use of light alloys operating in hard and complex operating environments.”
