Keronite opens the world’s first PEO technology centre

CAMBRIDGE, UK – 24th May 2019 – Keronite can announce the formal opening of its new surface technology R&D and manufacturing centre. Based near Cambridge, the multi million pound technology centre will pioneer new ways of using Keronite’s advanced surface technology.

Keronite has opened a new technology centre in Haverhill, nearby Cambridge. The opening of the centre comes following a period of significant revenue growth and customer interest in plasma electrolytic oxidation technology.

The company, whose specialist coating technology is highly sought by a diverse set of industries, formally announced its plans to open a new centre last year. Now open, Keronite’s capacity for new coating developments, research projects and manufacturing has expanded exponentially.

Commenting on the opening, Matt Hamblin (CEO, Keronite), said: “We are delighted to be able to officially open our new technology centre. It’s a testament to the incredible work our team are doing, and it’s a clear indication that the future is very bright indeed.”

To tailor their surface treatments for multiple applications, Keronite’s materials scientists engage in a collaborative R&D approach with customers. This gives them the ability to meet the demands of their customers, whose specific needs require innovative coating solutions.

The new centre will help the company solve increasingly sophisticated materials challenges faced by customers. In 2018, the company commenced volume production with 5 new blue chip customers, including on a project investigating the implementation of aluminum brake discs for the electric/hybrid vehicle market.

The centre will feature a host of new facilities; including a wet laboratory for electrolyte composition testing, metrology laboratory, comprehensive pre/post-coating analysis equipment, and salt spray booths for corrosion-resistance testing.

The new, purpose-built facilities will allow the company to perform more extensive bench testing, which will enable them to develop the technology in previously untapped industries and demonstrate the scope for greater innovation.

In recognition of Keronite’s unique position as facilitators of future technologies, the European Union awarded a grant to help fund the centre.
